Weapons
Weapons
Weapons are a type of Equipment which falls under the Item category. There are around 20 different Weapon Classes in Dusk Tactics. They each have their own specific uses, with Jobs dictating which ones a Unit can use. Units can also use them via Weapon License Passives which allow for special use regardless of Job.Weapon Classes
Every weapon in Dusk Tactics falls into one of the Weapon Classes below. Weapon Class determines things like the damage formula used, basic actions when equipped, attack type. It also determines the item sprite that shows up on the unit when equipped.¹ Allows targeting of diagonal tiles
² Extends 2 tiles in each direction
³ Special non-projectile ranged attack (does not require line of sight)
* ‘Longsword’ is a placeholder, this will be a specialized bladed weapon i.e. Katana or Knightsword
Melee vs Ranged
Melee weapons typically require the unit to be adjacent to the target whereas ranged weapons can target units from a distance. Ranged weapons fire a projectile which travels in either a straight or parabolic trajectory. As such, a preview of the trajectory path will appear when you are choosing a target.
In the images below, you can see the preview line turns red if the projectile will be deflected and/or is unable to hit the target, otherwise it is blue.

Equipping
Out of the five (5) Equipment Slots, Weapons utilize the Main Hand and Off Hand slots. 2 Handed Weapons take up both the Main Hand and Off Hand slots. Some 1 Handed Weapons can be equipped in the Off Hand slot if it is open and a 1 Handed Weapon is equipped in the Main Hand slot.
When a unit equips weapons in both the Main Hand and Off Hand slots a special attack, Dual Strike, becomes available. Dual Strike is a 2-hit combo attack that delivers back to back blows from each equipped weapon (offhand weapon damage is reduced by 50%). You also have the option of performing a single regular attack with either weapon.

When equipped, the weapon will show up on your unit. That goes double for Dual Wielding as seen below where Belavosi is Dual Wielding Foils.

Dual Wielding is currently limited to the following 1 Handed Weapon Classes:
- Axe
- Crossbow
- Dagger
- Foil
- Longsword
- Mace
- Pistol
- Sabre
- Wand
- Whip
The range of Dual Strike is based on the lowest of the two weapons. For example, if a Melee and Ranged weapon are equipped, Dual Strike is limited to melee distance. Minimum range is ignored unless both equipped weapons are Ranged and at least one of them has a minimum range larger than 1.
