Tier III Jobs – August 12th 2022
While the idea for the demo is to have a little bit of everything, some of the more advanced Jobs that are not yet developed will have mechanics that obviously have yet to be added. To remedy this, I’ve decided to add some Tier III Jobs to the demo and with them, add at least one of each new type of ability mechanic.
These new Jobs include the Bard, Hunter, Fencer, Cavalier, Druid. Bards use Songcraft skills which can ‘target all allies’.
The Bard plays instruments and has abilities that can target all allies at once (very early example above).
Abilities that ‘target all’ may seem overpowered, but they are balanced by high costs, low effectiveness, leaving the caster vulnerable, etc.
The “target all” target-type is the last one that needed to be added, making all abilities possible! I coded it to allow target parameters to change on the fly, similar to the Calculator/Arithmetician Job from Final Fantasy Tactics, i.e. Target Height 5, Target Lvl%3, etc. I left it more open-ended so I can change up the parameters and parameter types to fit whatever needs I have.
Below is a gif showing off some of the newer Job sprites as well as their enemy palette variant. You can see the Monk, Cavalier, Mystic, Druid, Bard, Fencer, and Gambler in both Male & Female forms.
