Treasure Chests – July 5th 2022
The latest feature is a new type of action that can be performed by units. It will show up as the fourth option in the ‘Action’ menu and it will change depending on what situation the unit is in. For now it’s used to open a newly added item: Treasure Chests!
This was more intensive than I thought it would be, as this menu option changes based on what is around you. In this instance, standing adjacent to a Treasure Chest will add the ‘Open’ option to the menu.
Most of the work went into the backend to create an extendable “action command” that changes based on interactive objects near the unit. There’s a lot I can do with this feature:
- “Talk” option if two units are nearby
- “Search” feature to find hidden items
Multiple Treasure Chests will be hidden on every story scenario map. Sometimes getting to them while keeping the battle going can be tricky. The reward can sometimes be well worth it, who doesn’t like +1 MOV boots?
