Equipment: More Than Just Stats – January 20th 2022
Equipment can vastly change how powerful your unit is via the extra stats they can add, however that’s not all equipment is good for!
To re-cap, you can currently equip one (1) Weapon and/or one (1) Shield, two (2) Armor types, and one (1) Accessory (not yet implemented). So basically Weapons, Shields, Armor, and Accessories.
Each of these has different stats they focus on, but they also have extra added bonuses as well.
- Any type of equipment can have ‘On Equip’ Status Buffs.
- Weapons can have an ‘On Hit’ Status Effect.
- Armor, Shields, & Accessories can grant immunity to a specific Status Effect.
Equipment with special effects like these will often be of a higher ‘Quality’ and will appear on your equipment screen as a color other than white.
The first type is ‘On Equip’ Status Effects. These are pieces of equipment than add a positive status effect as long as the item is equipped. The status effect is removed if the item is removed. This type is probably the most common, and the most fun.
The equipment info box now has two pages, the second shows status effect info! In this example, as long as the item is equipped, the unit will have the REGEN Status Effect (+HP each turn)!
The second type, ‘On Hit’ Status Effect, is limited to Weapons since they are usually the only thing you actually hit stuff with. ‘On Hit’ Status Effects have a chance at being applied anytime the weapon hits the target, so the % chance to apply the effect is often very low.
Belavosi starts off with the Eastern Sabre, a special sabre that has a 10% chance to apply LAZY, debuff that lowers Agility.
Lastly, you may have noticed the ‘Extras’ category on the User Interface. This is for anything else that equipment may have on it. The main use is for the third item mentioned above: Status Immunities.
Status Immunities are limited to Armor, Shields, and Accessories. For now, each item can grant your unit (1) Status Immunity, this may be increased in the future. Items with immunity to some of the more common status effects like Poison can be very useful in certain situations.
