magic:elements

Elements

Elements exist in various tiers and as various types throughout the game world. There are six basic elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Gaia, Volt, and Ice. The next level of elements has two: Light and Dark. The top tier of elements contains the most powerful two: Time and Aether. Each spell and some skills found in the game are part of one of these elements*1). The damage these abilities do will be affected by their element based on both the attacking unit's and the defending unit's elemental affinities.

Element Chart

The chart above details the relationship between every element type. The three boxes show the three tiers with the strongest being found on the right side.

Primary Elements

These elements share an expanded rock-paper-scissor relationship. Each primary element has a primary element it's weak to and a primary element it's strong against. On top of that, all primary elements are weak to Light, Dark, and Aether.

Fire is strong against Ice and weak against Water, Light, Dark, and Aether

Water is strong against Fire and weak against Volt, Light, Dark, and Aether

Wind is strong against Gaia and weak against Ice, Light, Dark, and Aether

Gaia is strong against Volt and weak against Wind, Light, Dark, and Aether

Volt is strong against Water and weak against Gaia, Light, Dark, and Aether

Ice is strong against Wind and weak against Fire, Light, Dark, and Aether

Advanced Elements

The two elements in this tier are more powerful than the primary elements. Light includes a majority of the game's healing spells as well as an abundance of buffs and cleansing abilities which makes it very useful. Dark is the second-most powerful offensive element and it contains many debilitating debuffs as well. These elements are strong against every one of the six primary elements. They are both also weak to each other as well as Aether.

Light is strong against Fire, Water, Wind, Gaia, Volt, Ice, and weak against Dark and Aether

Dark is strong against Fire, Water, Wind, Gaia, Volt, Ice, and weak against Light and Aether

Master Elements

Time has no elemental strengths or weaknesses

Aether is strong against Fire, Water, Wind, Gaia, Volt, Ice, Light, Dark and has no weaknesses
