Info

The Defender is a Job that is trained by the Order of Atlas. It's one of the basic 12 Jobs and is the starting point for brave units who want to protect others.

A Defender's creed used to be “Protect allies at all costs”, but in recent years it was changed to just “Protect all allies” as any good Defender knows they cannot help anyone if they themselves are incapacitated. Defenders are your basic tanks, they are there to get the enemy's attention and keep it while their allies focus on offense.


Stats

In the picture on the right you will see a basic layout of this class' starting stats. These are the stats at Level 1. These numbers are not locked in, they will vary depending on your Gender, Morality, Ethics, and possibly other attributes you can set when hiring a new unit.

The letters you see on the right side are ratings for each stats Growth Rate*. An “S” indicates the stat will grow extremely fast, while an “F” indicates extremely slow growth. The most important stats are the seven (7) attributes starting with Strength and ending in Luck. These stats are used to calculate almost every other attribute, so pay attention to these when choosing a Job.

*The exception to this is Move and Jump, these stats do not grow so the rating is more of an indication of how it compares to other Jobs in it's tier group.

Skills

Defenders have some of the best Health Point and Vitality growth making them an obvious choice for the front lines. Even their offense is pretty decent. They do lack Speed, however, as it's among the lowest of the basic classes. The ability, Cover allows the Defender to reduce damage for nearby allies and is connected to the Passive, Guard, which gives them the Muru Aura. This Aura spans the four adjacent tiles around the Defender. While active, it will block enemy movement. Enemy units will be unable to move through this Aura in one turn giving your rear units some breathing room.

Equipment

Defenders are more focused on Armor and Shields, than Weapons since damage mitigation is the name of the game, but they can still wield the basics. A Defender can only wear Heavy Armor and is one of the only Jobs that can use any type of Shield.
