Status Effect

Status is usually one of three things, positive, negative, or neutral. It can get more complex than that, but really Status Effects make up the various Conditions a Unit may have.

For the purpose of clarity, in this game, Status Effects refer to the overall effect. Status Effects may only have one Condition but they can also have multiple Conditions which are all applied in the same way when the effect is activated. There are also several ways a Unit can get a Status Effect. Firstly, Status Effects only happen in combat, that is they can only be acquired during combat and after a single battle is completed, the Unit will no longer have that effect. During combat a unit may have multiple Status Effects and will sometimes even start with one. Status Effects are similar to Passives in that they are usually something that will change a Unit's stats or behavior, except Status Effects are much more varied and usually expire after a set amount of turns.


Conditions are a collection of Buffs, Debuffs, and Misc. effects that alter a Unit in one particular way. They each contain an icon, a name and usually a unique method of augmenting a Unit. As I mentioned earlier, Conditions are what you will see in-game on a Unit if they have been inflicted with a Status Effect.

For example, let us say Erdwin is an Alchemist and he specializes in weakening enemy units. He has an ability, let's call it Envenom , that if successful, will Poison a targeted unit for three (3) turns. Erdwin decides to use this ability and it works!

The target now has the Poison debuff. The target will notice an icon in their Status, under Debuffs, as well as an icon under their Unit heads up display.

Each turn, the Poison debuff will remove either a set amount or a percentage of HP. The target will see no damage done this turn, however. The effect itself will go away after the third turn or if an item or Ability that removes Poison is used on the target.
